Dieng's Double-Double Secures White Team Win In Final Intrasquad Scrimmage

Behind Gorgui Dieng's double-double, the White Team posted an 87-74 victory over the Red Team in the University of Louisville men's basketball team's final intrasquad scrimmage Saturday afternoon at the KFC Yum! Center.

Dieng tallied a preseason-best 17 points on 6-of-12 shooting, including a 5-of-6 stint from the free-throw line, and had 14 rebounds. Notably, the junior had a game-high six steals in addition to his four blocks. Through three scrimmages, Dieng had 40 points, 36 rebounds and nine blocks.

In addition to Dieng, the White Team had three other players finish with double digits in scoring. Luke Hancock had 18 points, Russ Smith registered 17, and Peyton Siva chipped in 16, while dishing out a game-best eight assists.

The White Team, which trailed by one at the half, put together a strong defensive performance in the second period, limiting the Red Team to just 28 points on 9-of-31 shooting. Also, the White Team forced 14 turnovers in the final period and scored 16 points of the change in possession.

Chane Behanan led the Red Team with 15 points and 13 rebounds, while also earning credit for five assists and three steals. The Red Team's four other starters also finished the game with double-digit scoring totals: Wayne Blackshear (18 points), Kevin Ware (15), Tim Henderson (13), and Montrezl Harrell (11).

The two teams combined for 16 3-pointers and 24 steals.
