The Lexington Legends have won a Minor League Baseball Award (MiLBY) in the category of Game of the Year.   The winning nominee in fans’ voting was a no-hitter September 1 by Legends right-hander Chris Devenski.

Devenski struck out 16 batters and walked one as the Legends defeated Rome 10-0.  Lexington’s Matt Duffy hit two homers and drove in five runs.

Devenski’s gem was the first no-hitter by an individual pitcher in the Legends’ 12-year history.  Derek Stanford, Chris George and Kirk Saarloos combined for a no-hitter on July 30, 2001, the Legends’ first season.

“I think it almost goes without saying that Chris’ no-hitter was easily the greatest pitching performance in the proud history of the Lexington Legends,” said Legends General Manager Seth Poteat.
