In Monday's final exhibition game against Transylvania, the Pioneers hit three 3-pointers early in the first half. They never hit again from long range the rest of the night. John Cali;ari says 3-point defense will be important as the Cats play their way through the season.

Transylvania ended the night 3-20 behind the 3-point line. Calipari says several teams will try to beat Kentucky the same way. "Out of the 40 games we'll play, I'm guessing fifteen, eighteen, will try to beat us soley at the 3-point line. After Monday's game in Rupp, Cal likes what he sees. "Well we're showing we can guard the three a little bit. Matter of fact, better than we did a year ago at this time."

Last season Calipari won the NCAA title with a team that knew how to guard the three. "Later in the year we guarded the three really good. Early, if you remember, teams were shooting threes on us left and right."
