University of Louisville defensive end Lorenzo Mauldin was tabbed the American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Mauldin, who hails from Atlanta, Ga., was instrumental in Louisville’s 27-13 road win at Kentucky to improve to 3-0 on the season. Louisville held Kentucky to 376 yards of total offense and allowed two late scores in the fourth quarter.
The starting defensive end recorded three tackles, two sacks, three tackles for loss and two forced fumbles as the Cardinals stopped the Wildcats for most of the game. He leads the team with 2.5 sacks.
The Cardinals return home this weekend to face FIU at noon.
